Honeymoon Ideas

Your honeymoon is a very important time for you and your husband. It gives you the chance to relax and unwind after all the hectic wedding planning from the months before. Whether you are looking for the perfect paradise beach holiday or a fun packed and scenic holiday there is plenty from you to choose from. When planning where you want to go for your honeymoon it is important that you both sit down and decide what sort of a couple you are and what you would enjoy as a holiday together. You might be the type that enjoys all the buzz and lights of the city, clubs, bars and restaurants. Therefore it would not be at all enjoyable if you found yourself on a small island with little to do but sunbathe. Similarly if you prefer the more relaxing holiday with long walks through the natural landscapes with the occasional gentle water sports then a city honeymoon would not be for you. Think of what you would both enjoy doing as a couple, whether it is taking in the local history and scenery, long romantic walk along the beach or dancing the night away in the local hot spots. You can choose from luxury packages where your every need is catered for or more basic packages, which can offer a sense of adventure and freedom.

Culture

If you are the type of couple that like the thought of art and history, then choosing a destination which offers plenty for you to see and do would be ideal. European cities such as Rome and Barcelona have plenty to offer both scenically and culturally. Sitting at a street side café watching the world go by or attending a concert of music or opera would give you both a pleasant taste of these cities cultures. In Italy the combination of the Italian sunshine, hospitality, food and wine could make for a great honeymoon. If you wished to go a bit further afield then perhaps somewhere such as Cuba or Rio de Janeiro would offer a lively mix of different cultures and music.

Activity

If you would prefer to be doing different activities on your honeymoon from, water sports such as diving to horse riding or trekking then there are lots of destinations to choose from that will cater for your needs. Diving is one of the most popular sports on tropical destinations like the Caribbean and the islands of the Indian Ocean. These places offer unprecedented clear seas in which you can experience the many strange and beautiful landscapes of the seabed. For those who like water sports such as snorkelling and diving the Maldives is a particular favourite.

For other activities such as white water rafting, kayaking and horse riding and trekking, New Zealand is a particularly good destination. Its vast landscapes lend themselves to outdoor activities.

Scenery

If you are a couple who like being in the open fresh air and surrounded by natural landscapes, then it would be a good idea to consider a holiday where you can relax on a beach or just enjoy the native surroundings. You could choose an adventurous honeymoon of a trek through the hills of Nepal or you could go for an exciting safari honeymoon where you can watch wild animals in their natural habitat. You could even opt for a cruise in which case your scenery would change just about every day.

The All-Inclusive

There are many holiday resorts that offer all-inclusive honeymoon packages. Originally it was the Caribbean resorts that started it but now many resorts offer all-inclusive. Choosing to go for an all-inclusive honeymoon package will take much of the stress of organising your honeymoon and is good value for money. It helps if you are trying to organise a honeymoon within a budget as the one price includes all from your food, drink and entertainment to the accommodation and a list of activities, while still remaining extremely romantic. If you choose this for your honeymoon some things to make sure that you enquire about are, the quality of food and beverage on offer and what exactly is included in the package that you choose. Sandals and Beaches resorts are extremely popular for this style of honeymoon because their quality of service and amenities is beyond doubt. Your flights will probably not be included in the price however if you would prefer this then if you have booked through a tour operator then it can be arranged via them.

Snow Honeymoon

Some people like a white wedding would you like a white honeymoon? Perhaps the thought of spending your honeymoon in a romantic chalet, surrounded with scenic views and taking part in some activities like skiing or snowboarding is your idea of heaven. Skiing is a very popular holiday with people who love the sport or are willing to have a go. If this is what you are interested in then there is a myriad of locations to choose from. There are the mountain resorts in Europe, Canada and America. Meribal in France is an example of one of the best locations and offers great nightlife and skiing as well as lots more activities for during the day. A romantic winter honeymoon allows you the chance to go back to basics in a log cabin with open fires, intimate candlelight and shared body warmth and plenty of early nights. The perfect romantic start to your marriage!

Can’t Decide?

If you and your husband to be just can't decide between a sophisticated urban honeymoon destination and an idyllic, sun drenched beach island escape then here is an idea, why not combine the two. Spend the first half of your honeymoon in an exciting city such as New York, the city that never sleeps. Where you will be able to feel the energy the moment you arrive, and there will be plenty to do during the day and at night. Then you could spend the second part of your honeymoon recovering from the excitement and wild frenzy of the city on an exotic island where you can surrender yourselves to more indulgent pleasures. Somewhere like Bermuda would be ideal for this as it not only has amazing beaches to relax on but it also has no shortage of fun things to do, like water sports and underwater exploration trips.

Some Top Tips

It is important to always look at all the details before purchasing a holiday. For example the distance of the airport from the hotel, any connecting flights and flight durations.

If you will be flying during peak flight times like during school holidays then there may be extra flight supplements on short haul flights.

It is a good idea to take a small first aid kit with you to deal with any minor ailments such as small cuts, headaches or insect bites.

When deciding on spending money allow some extra cash for tipping. Although in some all-inclusive honeymoons they have no tipping policies.

Before going on your honeymoon check what the weather is like at the destination. You can do this on the Internet on certain sites. This will allow you to pack accordingly.

Remember that you will probably be exhausted after all the wedding planning and so although you may go somewhere that has lots of things to do, don't go over the top when planning your itinerary as you will probably want to relax the first couple of days.
